Ernest is the former chair of the American Bar Association, Business Section, Consumer Bankruptcy Committee. He is on the Board of Governors of the Conference of Consumer Finance Law. He is a Member of the American Bar Association, Section of Business Law, Commercial and Consumer Financial Services Committees, and has served on the Governing Committee of each. He has served as Tennessee Editor for each of CarLaw and HouseLaw. He is a member of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys and is a regular instructor for continuing legal education both in Tennessee and nationally, generally teaching on the subjects of Secured Transactions, Real Estate Finance, Consumer Regulation and RESPA.

Mr. Williams handles Small Business Administration loans for various lenders, in Tennessee and Nationally and is versed in SBA Lending policies and procedures, assisting processing offices in the state of Tennessee.
Mr. Williams assists consumer lenders and mortgage loan servicers in developing portfolio compliance strategies. He represents banks, finance companies and aircraft manufacturers in sales and lending transactions.
